Never Miss – 101: What an Olympian Taught Me About Adaptation
When Aaron joined the Never Miss – 101 challenge, it wasn’t just about staying fit — it was about filling a void.
Both of us, former university athletes, I played varsity basketball and Aaron went on to represent New Zealand in the Olympics, had built businesses and found new forms of competition. But something was missing: the physical grind. That push. The daily discipline that shaped so much of our earlier lives.
As time went on, we both felt the changes. More injuries. Stiffness. Slower recovery. The frustrating realization that we weren’t performing like we used to. Never Miss – 101 was our way to push back against that decline, and rediscover the resilience in our bodies and minds.
Aaron’s Approach
Aaron hit the ground running. He jumped into intense, full-body workouts with that Olympic fire still burning. But there was no structure. No rest days. Just pure output.
Around Day 30, that caught up with him. A shoulder injury forced him into physiotherapy and into a new mindset. He began organizing his training intelligently, allowing muscles to heal and recover properly. He turned intensity into intentionality.
The Reality of 101 Days Straight
I had told him: this challenge isn’t designed for dramatic gains. In the first month, you might see growth. In the next 30 days, you’ll likely plateau. In the final stretch, your body may even regress without enough rest.
But Aaron stuck with it. Adjusted. Learned. Grew, not just physically, but mentally.
This Wasn’t About Perfection
It was about consistency. About refusing to let age and wear slow us down without a fight. About adapting like athletes again, just a little older and a lot wiser.
That’s what Never Miss – 101 is all about.
